Statewide CFL Campaign

What:

Eight Texas utilities are sponsoring a program to encourage people to buy energy-saving ENERGY STAR® qualified CFLs (compact fluorescent light bulbs). The program outlines the benefits of CFL use while also offering reduced prices at participating retail locations.

Dates of Program:

Select promotions begin July 2008 and continue through December 2009.

Why CFLs?

ENERGY STAR qualified CFLs:

• Use up to 75% less energy
• Last up to 10 times longer than standard incandescent bulbs
• Produce less heat than standard incandescent bulbs, reducing your cooling bills as well as lighting costs
• Are a better choice for the environment

Where:

CFLs will be available at participating retail locations in the Texas utilities' service territories, including The Home Depot, 99 Cents Store, Lowe's, Sam's Clubs, True Value, Ace Hardware, Dollar Tree, Wal-Mart and Costco.
